Arts Education Programmes

This assembly performance aims to spark an interest in students on Ocarina, – an instrument originated from Italy and is widely popular in Taiwan, Japan and Korea. Musicians will present a series of familiar tunes on the different Ocarinas and also introduce the history and development of the instrument.. 

The performance style will come in solo, duet, quartet and even septet to introduce the versatility of this small instrument that holds so much potential. The Ocarina is easy to learn and can usually be picked up within ten minutes of playing! Interaction session can also be included in the programme.

The following programme is approved under NAC-AEP 2019/2020 until 31 December 2020. Schools may use the Tote Board Arts Grant to subsidise the programme cost.

By the end of the workshops, students will be able to play a wide variety of songs such as local folk songs, animation movie theme songs and many more on the Ocarina. Students will also be introduced to Chinese music notation jianpu and basic music theory as well. 
 

Students will learn through demonstrations and teaching as facilitated by the instructor. The workshop would also cover the various characteristics of the music instrument.  The Ocarina is portable and easy to learn and it is a great alternative instrument to learn other than recorder, ukulele or guitar.
